Promotions

As of August 12, 2019, all new and existing Getaround Owners may be eligible to receive various promotional payments or bonuses (“Promotions”) described on this page if they meet certain conditions described below. Each Promotion is available for a limited time only and requires the Owner to opt in for the promotion, either manually or automatically, as further specified below. The Promotions currently available to Owners are as follows:

Availability Incentives

The Go Time Guarantee

The Go Time Guarantee rewards Owners each month that their Cars’ calendars remain open on Getaround. An open Car calendar means that, on a given day, no calendar blocks have been added to it for the consecutive 14 days prior to the given day (even if subsequently removed), or the Car is reserved or has been booked through the Getaround platform. However, we know that Owners sometimes need to block Car calendars for maintenance, cleaning, personal use, and so on. Owners can continue to qualify for the Go Time Guarantee as long as calendar blocks are not placed on more than a total of 1 weekend day / federal holiday plus 2 weekdays / non-holidays, or a total of 4 weekdays, per month. The availability of the latter option is effective August 1, 2019. These days may be (but don’t have to be) consecutive, such as Thursday through Saturday, Sunday through Tuesday, or Monday through Thursday. Calendar blocks shorter than a full day (for example, 12 hours) count as one full day towards the monthly allowance. It is permissible for combinations of blocked calendar days to differ from month to month. A calendar day is defined as a 24-hour period in the Car’s local time zone, starting at 12:00 AM on one day of the week, and ending on 11:59 PM on that same day.

The amount of each Go Time Guarantee depends on a number of factors, including the location of the Car eligible for the Promotion, the Car’s age, make, model, location and other characteristics, and the time of year during which the Promotion is being calculated. To see the amount of the Go Time Guarantee for their Cars, Owners may visit our Getaround guarantee calculator.

The Go Time Guarantee ensures that Owners whose Cars are opted in and meet the requirements of the Promotion will receive a minimum amount of earnings during a monthly earnings period. For example, if a Car is eligible for the Promotion in a given month but earns less than the Promotion amount for that month, the difference between the Promotion amount and the Car’s actual earnings will be added to the Owner’s monthly payout as outlined below. However, if a Car earns more than the Promotion amount in a given month, its Owner will not be issued the Promotion for that month. A monthly earnings period includes earnings from trips that end on or before 11:59 PM UTC of the last day of that month.

Here is how Owners can earn this Promotion:

  • Successfully add their Cars to Getaround, including passing Getaround’s onboarding safety inspection.
  • Ensure that their Cars are model year 2012 or newer, with fewer than 125,000 miles.
  • Ensure that their Cars are free from any open or unresolved safety recall campaigns.
  • Ensure that their Cars meet all additional terms specified by our Getaround guarantee calculator and in any opt-in agreement between the Owner and Getaround.
  • Keep their Cars parked within a quarter-mile radius of their current, assigned home locations between trips on Getaround, provided that any movement or relocation within this radius does not result in the Car being located in a ZIP code different from the code associated with its currently assigned home location . Owners may, upon receipt of Getaround’s written approval, relocate their Cars’ assigned home locations to new home locations, provided that such Cars continue to meet the requirements of the Go Time Guarantee.
  • Enable predictive pricing for each Car with the Getaround-recommended default settings for minimum daily price and a minimum trip duration of 2 hours or less, without disabling predictive pricing for the Car or changing from the Getaround-recommended settings at any time. Owners should use the “Reset to recommended” button in their owner dashboards to satisfy this requirement.

The following exceptions will not affect a Car’s eligibility for the Go Time Guarantee:

  • The presence of recurring inaccessibility blocks on a Car’s calendar, which have been added by Getaround and which reflect events such as daily garage closures.
  • Any period of time during which a Car has been temporarily deactivated by Getaround because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which renders the Car inoperable. The amount of the Go Time Guarantee for a given month will be prorated according to the period of time during which the Car remains temporarily deactivated because of the event.
  • Up to two (2) Getaround trip cancellations initiated by (or at the request of) an Owner for each month.

Any of the following events will disqualify a Car from earning the Go Time Guarantee:

  • Calendar blocks of any length placed on more than a total of 1 weekend day / federal holiday plus 2 weekdays, or a total of 4 weekdays, per month.
  • Calendar blocks added and subsequently removed by Owners so as to circumvent the requirements of the Promotion.
  • Three (3) or more Getaround trip cancellations initiated by (or at the request of) an Owner, or any number of no-show events each month, unless the cancellations directly result from the Car’s temporary deactivation because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which rendered the Car inoperable.

The Go Time Guarantee for each eligible and opted in Car will be automatically calculated and included in the Car Owner’s monthly payout that immediately follows the month during which the Promotion was earned. For example, if a Car satisfies the requirements of the Go Time Guarantee for the month of July, the amount of the Promotion will be included in the Car Owner’s August payment.

For the month of July 2019 only, Cars may earn the Go Time Guarantee by satisfying the above requirements only from July 15 to July 31, even if the requirements aren’t satisfied anytime between July 2 and July 14. Accordingly, during the month of July, Cars will continue to qualify for the Go Time Guarantee as long as calendar blocks are not placed on more than 1 weekend day / federal holiday plus 1 weekday / non-holiday between July 15 and July 31. Calendar blocks shorter than a full day (for example, 12 hours) count as one full day towards the allowance.

For all other months, Cars must continuously satisfy the Go Time Guarantee requirements for the entire month to earn the Promotion. If a new Car is added to Getaround after the first day of the month, and the Car is eligible for the Go Time Guarantee for that month, the amount of the Promotion will be prorated according to the Car’s join date and the number of days in that month.

The Summer ‘19 Bonus

The Summer ‘19 Bonus provides an extra reward to Owners who earn the Go Time Guarantee in July, August, or September of 2019. To be eligible for the Summer ‘19 Bonus, a Car must: 1) satisfy all the eligibility requirements of the Go Time Guarantee, and 2) have a home location within a ZIP code specified by Getaround as being eligible for the Summer ‘19 Bonus. Owners may visit our Getaround guarantee calculator to check if their ZIP code qualifies for this bonus.

For the month of July 2019 only, Cars may earn the Summer ‘19 Bonus by satisfying the above requirements only from July 15 to July 31, even if the requirements aren’t satisfied anytime between July 2 and July 14. For August and September 2019, Cars must continuously satisfy the Go Time Guarantee requirements for the entire month to earn the Summer ‘19 Bonus. If a new Car is added to Getaround after July 15, August 1, or September 1 (as applicable), and the Car is otherwise eligible for the Summer ‘19 Bonus, the amount of the monthly bonus will be prorated according to the following: 1) the Car’s join date and the number of days in the month joined during which the Promotion requirements must be satisfied; and 2) the number of days in the month during which the Car was deactivated by Getaround because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which renders the Car inoperable.

The Summer ‘19 Bonus will be awarded to eligible Owners even if those Owners don’t receive Promotion amounts because their monthly earnings exceed those amounts.

The Weekender Guarantee

For Owners who do not qualify or decide not to pursue the Go Time Guarantee, the Weekender Guarantee is an alternative Promotion with lower eligibility requirements and promotion amounts. The Weekender Guarantee rewards Owners who keep their Cars’ calendars open on Getaround for all 24 hours of each of at least 6 full weekend days or federal holidays per month. For example, July 2019 has 8 weekend days and one federal holiday. As long as a Car’s calendar is open for at least 6 of those 9 days, calendar blocks placed on the remaining 3 days in July 2019 won’t invalidate the Weekender Guarantee. An open Car calendar means that, on a given day, no calendar blocks have been added to it for the consecutive 14 days prior to the given day (even if subsequently removed), or the Car is reserved or has been booked through the Getaround platform.

The amount of each monthly Weekender Guarantee depends on a number of factors, including the location of the Car eligible for the Promotion, the Car’s age, make, model, location and other characteristics, and the time of year during which the Promotion is being calculated. To see the amount of the Weekender Guarantee for their Cars, Owners may visit our Getaround guarantee calculator.

The Weekender Guarantee ensures that Owners whose Cars are opted in and meet the requirements of the Promotion will receive a minimum amount of earnings during a monthly earnings period.

Here is how Owners can earn this offer:

  • Successfully add their Cars to Getaround, including passing Getaround’s onboarding safety inspection.
  • Ensure that their Cars are model year 2012 or newer, with fewer than 125,000 miles.
  • Ensure that their Cars are free from any open or unresolved safety recall campaigns.
  • Ensure that their Cars meet all additional terms specified by our Getaround guarantee calculator and in any opt-in agreement between the Owner and Getaround.
  • Keep their Cars parked within a quarter-mile radius of their current, assigned home locations between trips on Getaround, provided that any movement or relocation within this radius does not result in the Car being located in a ZIP code different from the code associated with its currently assigned home location. Owners may, upon receipt of Getaround’s written approval, relocate their Cars’ assigned home locations to new home locations, provided that such Cars continue to meet the requirements of the Weekender Guarantee.
  • Ensure that their Cars are available on Getaround for all 24 hours of each of at least 6 full weekend days or federal holidays per calendar month.

The following exceptions will not affect a Car’s eligibility for the Weekender Guarantee:

  • The presence of recurring inaccessibility blocks on a Car’s calendar, which have been added by Getaround and which reflect events such as daily garage closures.
  • Any period of time during which a Car has been temporarily deactivated by Getaround because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which renders the Car inoperable and which overlaps with a weekend day. The amount of the Weekender Guarantee for a given month will be prorated according to the period of time during which the Car remains temporarily deactivated during a weekend day.
  • One (1) Getaround trip cancellation initiated by (or at the request of) an Owner, occurring during a weekend day or holiday of each month.

Any of the following events will disqualify a Car from earning the Weekender Guarantee:

  • Calendar blocks of any length placed on more than 6 weekend days in a given month.
  • Calendar blocks added and subsequently removed by Owners so as to circumvent the requirements of the Promotion.
  • Two (2) or more Getaround trip cancellations initiated by (or at the request of) an Owner, or any no-show events, occurring during a weekend day of each month, unless the cancellations directly result from the Car’s temporary deactivation because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which renders the Car inoperable.

The Weekender Guarantee for each eligible and opted in Car will be automatically calculated and included in the Car Owner’s monthly payout that immediately follows the month during which the Promotion was earned. For example, if a Car satisfies the requirements of the Weekender Guarantee for the month of July, the amount of the Promotion will be included in the Car Owner’s August payment.

For the month of July 2019 only, Cars may earn the Weekender Guarantee by satisfying the above requirements only from July 15 to July 31, even if the requirements aren’t satisfied anytime between July 2 and July 14. Accordingly, during the month of July, Cars will continue to qualify for the Weekender Guarantee as long as calendar blocks are not placed on more than 3 weekend days / federal holidays between July 15 and July 31. Calendar blocks shorter than a full day (for example, 12 hours) count as one full day towards the allowance.

For all other months, Cars must continuously satisfy the Weekender Guarantee requirements for the entire month to earn the Promotion. If a new Car is added to Getaround after the first day of a month, and the Car is eligible for the Weekender Guarantee for that month, the amount of the Promotion will be prorated according to the Car’s join date and the number of days in that month.

If a Car is opted in and eligible for both the Go Time Guarantee and the Weekender Guarantee, only the Go Time Guarantee will be awarded to its Owner. In addition, the relevant Promotion will be automatically applied each month, even if a different Promotion was earned the previous month. For example, if a Car earns the Go Time Guarantee in July and the Weekender Guarantee in August, and is eligible to earn the Go Time Guarantee again in September, the Go Time Guarantee will be automatically applied to the Owner’s September earnings.

As of July 2, 2019, both the Go Time Guarantee and the Weekender Guarantee replace and supersede any existing earnings guarantees that may have applied to Owners prior to that date. Neither the Go Time Guarantee nor the Weekender Guarantee can be combined with each other or with any other earnings guarantee unless stated otherwise on this page or in writing by Getaround.

The Gig Guarantee

Starting September 1, 2019, Owners who have been invited to make their Cars available for the Drive With Uber Program (or any similar program) may be eligible to earn the Gig Guarantee. The requirements of the Gig Guarantee are based on those associated with the Go Time Guarantee, with slight modifications to account for the unique nature of the Drive With Uber Program.

As with the Go Time Guarantee, the Gig Guarantee rewards Owners each month that their Cars’ calendars remain open on Getaround. An open Car calendar means that, on a given day, no calendar blocks have been added to it for the consecutive 14 days prior to the given day (even if subsequently removed), or the Car is reserved or has been booked through the Getaround platform. Owners can continue to qualify for the Gig Guarantee as long as calendar blocks are not placed on more than a total of 1 weekend day / federal holiday plus 2 weekdays / non-holidays, or a total of 4 weekdays, per month.

The Gig Guarantee ensures that Owners whose Cars are opted in and meet the requirements of the Promotion will receive a minimum amount of earnings during a monthly earnings period.

  • Ensure that their Cars qualify as Economy Sedans as categorized by Getaround (this requirement is specific to the Gig Guarantee)
  • Ensure that their Cars and all associated vehicle documentation have been approved by Uber, and that those Cars have been activated for the Drive With Uber Program (this requirement is specific to the Gig Guarantee)
  • Ensure that their Cars have a home location within a ZIP code specified by Getaround as being eligible for the Gig Guarantee
  • Keep their Cars parked within a quarter-mile radius of their current, assigned home locations between trips on Getaround, provided that any movement or relocation within this radius does not result in the Car being located in a ZIP code different from the code associated with its currently assigned home location . Owners may, upon receipt of Getaround’s written approval, relocate their Cars’ assigned home locations to new home locations, provided that such Cars continue to meet the requirements of the Gig Guarantee.
  • Ensure the Car complies with the Getaround-recommended default settings for minimum daily price and a minimum trip duration of 2 hours or less, without changing from the Getaround-recommended settings at any time. Owners should use the “Reset to recommended” button in their owner dashboards to satisfy this requirement.

The following exceptions will not affect a Car’s eligibility for the Gig Guarantee:

  • The presence of recurring inaccessibility blocks on a Car’s calendar, which have been added by Getaround and which reflect events such as daily garage closures.
  • Any period of time during which a Car has been temporarily deactivated by Getaround because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which renders the Car inoperable. The amount of the Gig Guarantee for a given month will be prorated according to the period of time during which the Car remains temporarily deactivated because of the event.
  • Up to two (2) Getaround trip cancellations initiated by (or at the request of) an Owner for each month.

Any of the following events will disqualify a Car from earning the Gig Guarantee:

  • Calendar blocks of any length placed on more than a total of 1 weekend day / federal holiday plus 2 weekdays, or a total of 4 weekdays, per month.
  • Calendar blocks added and subsequently removed by Owners so as to circumvent the requirements of the Promotion.
  • Three (3) or more Getaround trip cancellations initiated by (or at the request of) an Owner, or any number of no-show events each month, unless the cancellations directly result from the Car’s temporary deactivation because of an event that occurred during a Getaround trip which rendered the Car inoperable.

The Gig Guarantee for each eligible and opted in Car will be automatically calculated and included in the Car Owner’s monthly payout that immediately follows the month during which the Promotion was earned. For example, if a Car satisfies the requirements of the Gig Guarantee for the month of September, the amount of the Promotion will be included in the Car Owner’s October payment. Cars must continuously satisfy the Gig Guarantee requirements for the entire month to earn the Promotion.

If a new Car is added to Getaround on or before the first day of the month, and the Car becomes qualified for the Drive With Uber Program on or before the first day of the month, the Car will be eligible for the Gig Guarantee for that entire month

If a new Car is added to Getaround after the first day of the month, and the Car is directly enrolled in the Drive With Uber Program upon being added to Getaround, the Car will be eligible for the Gig Guarantee for that month, and the amount of the Promotion will be prorated according to the Car’s Drive With Uber Program eligibility date and the number of days in that month.

If an existing Car is not already enrolled in the Drive With Uber Program and is invited to participate (and subsequently qualifies for) the Drive With Uber Program on or before the first day of the month, the Car will be eligible for the Gig Guarantee for the entire month.

If an existing Car is not already enrolled in the Drive With Uber Program and is invited to participate (and subsequently qualifies for) the Drive WIth Uber Program after the first day of the month, the Car will be eligible for the Gig Guarantee starting with the first day of the month that follows the month during which such Car qualified for the Drive With Uber Program. The Car may still be eligible to earn other Promotions for the month during which such Car first became qualified for the Drive With Uber Program.

If an existing Car doesn’t meet the Gig Guarantee eligibility requirements listed above, but such Car was previously part of a separate, written agreement with Getaround regarding an earnings guarantee, Getaround will continue to honor the previous agreement, so long as the Car and its Owner continue to meet the requirements of that agreement. If, in a given month, such Car happens to be eligible both for the guarantee under the previous agreement, and any of the Promotions listed on this page, its Owner will receive the largest available Promotion.

This Gig Guarantee may not be combined with any other earnings guarantee unless stated otherwise on this page or in writing by Getaround.

The Connect Free Trial

The following exceptions will not affect a Car’s eligibility for the Promotion:

  • Whether the Car to be onboarded was previously offboarded, so long as the offboarding process began before July 2, 2019.

The following events will disqualify a Car from earning the Promotion:

  • Whether the Car to be onboarded was previously offboarded on or after July 2, 2019 and subsequently onboarded so as to facilitate earning of the Promotion.
  • Whether the Connect installed in the Car has been removed without prior written authorization from Getaround.

This Promotion can be earned alongside either the Go Time Guarantee or the Weekender Guarantee, the Summer ‘19 Bonus, and the referral bonuses listed below. The usage of Connect devices installed pursuant to this Promotion are subject to our Connect Terms and Conditions.

Referral Bonuses

Renter Referral Program

The Renter Referral Program (referred to as the “Program”) allows both Renters and Owners to earn a bonus (the “Renter Referral Bonus”) by referring individuals to become new Renters on Getaround. This Program is effective (and applies to trips booked) on or after August 21, 2019.  The following terms and conditions apply to all Owners and Renters (collectively, “Participants”) participating in this Program.

Eligibility

Participants must be at least 19 years old, and Participants must be legal residents of the United States. All trips booked as part of the Program must comply with Getaround’s Terms of Service and originate in the United States.

The Renter Referral Bonus

Participants may earn a Renter Referral Bonus if:

  1. A referred individual clicks on the Participant’s referral link and proceeds to book their first trip;
  2. The referred individual becomes approved to drive on Getaround and accepts the Terms of Service; and
  3. The referred individual doesn’t cancel their first trip.

The following restrictions apply when earning the Renter Referral Bonus:

  1. The Participants and referred individual must at all times be separate people;
  2. If the Participant is an Owner, the Owner must have at least one Active car on Getaround during the calendar month in which an eligible Renter Referral Bonus is accrued (an “Active” car is one that is reserved or available to be reserved on Getaround, or a car that has been temporarily deactivated in connection with a Getaround trip; and
  3. The Program may only be used for personal, non-commercial purposes.

Referral Links

Each referred individual may only make use of a Referral Link once, and in case multiple Referral Links are received, only the Participant associated with the Referral Link actually used to book a trip on Getaround will earn the Renter Referral Bonus associated with that trip. In the event multiple Participants claim credit for a particular trip, Getaround may, in its sole discretion, investigate and decide which Participant is eligible for the Renter Referral Bonus.

Referral Links may not be published or distributed on commercial websites (such as coupon websites), blogs, Facebook, Instagram, Reddit or other social networks. Participants are prohibited from using mass emails, texts or other forms of direct or indirect communication with people they do not know, and are prohibited from using automated systems or bots through any channel to distribute their Referral Links. Participants are also prohibited from paying to advertise their Referral Links. Finally, Owners are prohibited from placing Referral Links anywhere on the Getaround profile pages for their cars.

Payment of Renter Referral Bonuses

For Participants who are Owners, the total amount of eligible and accrued Renter Referral Bonuses in the prior calendar month will be automatically calculated and added to the Owner’s payment as an earnings adjustment. For Participants who are Renters, the Renter Referral Bonus will be in the form of a Getaround promotional code, generated for each referred individual who meets the above requirements.

Renter Referral Bonuses are accrued based on a trip’s start date and time, (based on the UTC timezone), and only non-cancelled trips are accounted for. Participants are responsible for any taxes, fees or charges that may arise from earnings and payouts of any Renter Referral Bonuses.

The maximum amount that Participants may receive through the Program is $5,000 in each calendar month.

The Owner Referral Bonus

When Getaround Renters invite a friend to share their car on Getaround, and the friend lists their car through the referrer’s personal referral link, the referrer will receive $200 in Getaround credit when the friend’s car becomes available on Getaround.

When Getaround Owners invite a friend to share their car on Getaround, and the friend lists their car through the referrer’s personal referral link, the referrer will receive $200 as a bonus added to their earnings for the month during which the friend’s car becomes available on Getaround.

Getaround customers may not refer themselves or other existing Getaround customers for the purposes of the Owner Referral Bonus.

Both the Renter Referral Bonus and the Owner Referral Bonus may be combined with each other and with any other Promotion listed on this page.
