Fee and Commission Schedule
We're building a safe and trusted car sharing community. The fees outlined below are meant to encourage the growth and success of a happy community and discourage any irresponsible behavior. When small issues do arise, it's always best if Members can work them out between themselves. However, if you see anything that looks particularly wrong, please contact us.
Standard Fees compensate Getaround for the services provided in operating the platform and facilitating trips, including maintaining insurance coverage for trips, providing 24/7 roadside assistance, and running our site, hardware, and applications. These fees are in addition to the hourly, daily, and/or weekly rate of the car. Getaround currently charges a 40% commission on all trips booked, which commission is applied to the initial reservation price and any trip extensions, and which Renters pay directly to Getaround. Each trip extension is processed as a new trip and is billed separately from the initial booking.
Renters have no monthly fees but are subject to the following fees when renting on Getaround:
A Booking Fee will be charged for every Trip and trip extension, as reflected in the trip confirmation screen and documented in the itemized trip receipt. This Booking Fee is charged to the Renter for the reservation of a Getaround car and is required for each trip and trip extension. Discount codes and promotions cannot be applied to the Booking Fee. The Booking Fee is a percentage of the Trip price or trip extension to which it applies.
Each Renter (including Renters enrolled in our Drive With Uber Program) will be charged a License Fee to cover the cost of driving record processing. This fee will be charged on all first-time bookings made on any new driver's license added to the Renter's Getaround account, or on initial bookings made after any change to the Renter's current driver's license has been detected..
Variable depending on Renter's state of licensure
Under 25 Fee
Each Renter under the age of 25 will be charged an Under 25 Fee to cover the increased cost of insuring renters under the age of 25. This Under 25 Fee is charged to the Renter for the reservation of a Getaround car and is required for each trip and any extensions on the Trip. Discount codes and promotions cannot be applied to the Under 25 Fee.
If under the age of 25, the following Under 25 Fees apply:
Age 19 75% of Trip price
Age 20 45% of Trip price
Age 21 25% of Trip price
Age 22 15% of Trip price
Age 23 10% of Trip price
Age 24 5% of Trip price
Owners are subject to the following fees while sharing their car on Getaround:
Connect® Setup Fee
A one-time Setup Fee will be charged to the Owner to cover the installation of the Getaround Connect™ at onboarding.
A monthly data subscription fee will be charged to the Owner to cover data network access for the Connect® installed in the car.
Where required by applicable law, state and local taxes are charged on a per-Trip basis to the cost of the reservation for the Trip, any extensions for the Trip, and the Booking Fee(s) for the Trip reservation and any extensions. The amount of tax applicable to a Trip is reflected in the confirmation for that Trip.
These accompanying fees are charges related to additional services provided by Getaround, and are designed to incentivize courteous and responsible carsharing among Members.

In the event a renter has violated Getaround's Terms of Service, the fee does not apply, and the renter may be held responsible for the full amount of the claim. If a renter has purchased an optional Protection Plan for a Trip period, such renter’s responsibility for any Damage Fee that may otherwise apply to such period shall be reduced according to the Protection Plan purchased, unless any of the circumstances listed in the Damage Fee section of Getaround’s insurance summary are present.

The Unauthorized Driver Fee is separate from any other fees, fines, charges, or other legal remedies Getaround may have, as further described in our Renter Policy.
Unreported Damage Fine
Our Renter Policy requires Renters to report any car damage incurred during their Trips within 48 hours of such damage being incurred, unless the Renter has been rendered incapable of doing so. Failure to report such damage by filing a claim will result in the Renter being charged an Unreported Damage Fine of $200 for each Trip during which car damage was incurred and not reported in a timely manner.
Owner Reimbursements are added to the Owner's monthly earnings payout to reimburse for Renter-incurred expenses which the owner shoulders to resolve the issue. Additional earnings adjustments may also be added to the Owner's monthly payout to compensate for the time and effort of resolving Renter-incurred expenses.
Owners are responsible for submitting clear, timely, and valid receipts from verifiable vendors in order to be eligible for any trip-related incidental reimbursement. Submission of a receipt does not guarantee reimbursement of the expenses reflected on that receipt. If submitted receipts are discovered to be false, misleading, or otherwise modified, or if the frequency or amounts of reimbursements requested do not match the frequency or nature of the car's use on Getaround, reimbursement will be denied and access to the platform may be terminated in Getaround's sole discretion.
Fuel or Electricity Reimbursement
Renters are responsible for refilling the fuel used during a Trip. If, within a reasonable margin of error, a Renter returns a car with less fuel than was present at the start of the Trip, the Owner will receive a reimbursement that includes the replacement cost of the missing fuel. Owners of electric vehicles such as Teslas will need to submit pre-trip and post-trip photos showing charge levels at both times in order for their request to be reviewed for reimbursement.
The Owner is responsible to settle Renter-incurred traffic tickets, citations, and violations directly to prevent additional penalties due to late payment. The Owner may then submit a copy of the citation and payment receipt to Getaround to request a Citation Reimbursement for the expense.

A security deposit may, in Getaround's sole discretion, be required on a per-Trip basis to guarantee the payment of any reservations, extensions, charges, taxes, fees, or fines applicable to the Renter's use of the car during that Trip. If required for a Trip, the amount of the security deposit will be shown on the confirmation page for that Trip. The security deposit, minus any unpaid amounts applicable to a Trip, shall be refunded to the Renter seven days after the successful completion of that Trip.
