Chicagoland, or the Chicago metropolitan area, is an urban area in Illinois spanning 16 counties in northeast Illinois, southeast Wisconsin, and northwest Indiana. There are about 9.6 million people here, the third-largest metropolitan area in the U.S. and the fourth-largest metropolitan area in North America.
