Compton, California, in southern Los Angeles County, is south of downtown Los Angeles. It was the eighth city in California to incorporate. Most of the 96,000 residents are working-class with some middle-class and poor neighborhoods. Due to its geographic centrality in the county, it is known as the Hub City.

There are more than 39,500,000 people in about 163,696 square miles, making it the third-largest state. The state capital is Sacramento, and Los Angeles is the most populous city.
