Bayonne, New Jersey, is situated on a three-mile peninsula between Newark and Upper New York bays. With a population of about 63,000, it has been a center for oil refining, and it is now the northern terminus for several pipeline systems. Manufacturing includes machinery, textiles, and chemicals. There are extensive docks and shipyards along its nine-mile waterfront.
