Community page announcement: Hosts

Taking stock of our marketplace today and where we’re moving as a car-sharing platform and community, we have a quick announcement to make that we believe better aligns with the experience and value you provide by sharing on Getaround. Going forward, we are delighted to announce that we will be addressing our (previously called) owners as hosts. By democratizing access to cars and offering a true peer-to-peer (P2P) service, you have a direct impact on the car-sharing experience. You aren’t just owning car(s) — you’re caring for them and ensuring a safe and secure experience for your guests (formerly called renters). We are embracing the term guest(s) for the same reason; they aren’t receiving just an offering, they are partaking in an experience.

So, thank you for your continued support and commitment to excellence as a host with us. 

Welcome to the Getaround Host Community

To build, to learn, to share, and to grow alongside each other, with us supporting you as best we can along the way. This community is not intended to replace the other knowledge resources available to you — including our Host Help Center, email updates, and social media pages. Instead, we want to provide a one-stop shop to share knowledge and  communicate directly with each other and our team. From expanding your business to optimizing your earnings and helping us improve our marketplace. Lean on us and your fellow hosts here.


Getaround reserves the right to block and/or remove any posted content that does not adhere to these guidelines and/or violates the User Content section of our Terms of Service. To publicly post, you must currently be an active host in good standing with Getaround and never have previously violated any of our content guidelines included here. 

We want to facilitate as much productive conversation as possible. If conversations or comments veer off-topic or become disrespectful, we may block or remove the individuals responsible. We will not tolerate any of the following:

In addition to the guidelines specified above, your use of, and participation in, the Host Community space is governed by Getaround’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. By posting or responding to a post in the Host Community, you represent, warrant, and acknowledge that: 1) your content complies with Getaround’s Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, the guidelines specified above, and any other guidelines as may be published by Getaround from time to time; 2) you are a User of the Service, as those terms are refined in Getaround’s Terms of Service; 3) the Host Community is part of the Service, is provided solely for convenience, and may be modified, updated, suspended, or discontinued at any time by Getaround in its sole discretion; and 4) no member of the Host Community, and no content or messages posted therein, has the authority to bind Getaround, its affiliates, or any of its representatives. 

We’re excited to welcome you to this shared space, where we would like to collaborate with you and other hosts in building this community together. Join us as we develop this page into a place where you can come to share, grow, and inspire each other (and us)! Our Host Community has been created to give hosts like you direct access to one another and to us.
