Rest easy knowing that all Getaround rentals are insured through our primary insurance policy. Coverage includes liability, collision, property damage, and uninsured motorist protection.

Advanced Identity Verification

Real-time identity verification.

On every checkout, we work hard behind the scenes to verify the identity of each user. Getaround has integration with every state's DMV, allowing us to run secure automated driver record checks in real time. (For international licenses, we manually verify the user's driving record.) By cross-checking driving record with social identity through Facebook, the credit bureau, and sixteen other points of reference, we try to ensure that users are using their real identities online.

And, if you ever run into issues during a rental, we can address them immediately through our 24/7 roadside assistance program, which is provided nationwide through The National Automobile Club.

The Getaround Carkit

Share efficiently without compromising security.

Owners have the option of the patent-pending Getaround Carkit, a small and discreet piece of installed hardware that allows the car to be unlocked and locked using a smart phone. Each Carkit is equipped with GPS tracking technology, tamper detection, optional engine immobilization, and our own proprietary cryptographic protocols to secure all data exchanges.

Freedom and choice.

Getaround is all about choice. As a car owner, you decide exactly who you want to rent to. Each time you get a request, you'll see the renter's name, photo, and past ratings and reviews. Then, you can choose whether you're comfortable renting your car out to them.

It's even up to you how you rent—you can choose between key handoff, where you get to meet the renter in person, or equipping your car with the Getaround Carkit, which allows the car to be unlocked via mobile phone.
