Community Policies and Fees

With the help of our amazing Owners and Renters, we are building a safe, trusted community for car sharing. The policies outlined below are meant to encourage the growth and success of our Getaround community.

1. Rental Fees

These fees will be incurred once for every rental. They include a 40% commission ("Getaround Commission") charged to the Owner for the rental and a $1.00 booking fee ("Booking Fee") charged to the Renter for the reservation of a Getaround vehicle. Getaround Commission provides for the cost of insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, customer happiness, and marketing for rental demand.

2. Late Fees

Returning a car late can really inconvenience the car owner. When this happens, we charge a late fee. If a Renter returns a car late, without notifying and communicating with the Owner or Getaround, they will be charged the hourly rate of that vehicle along with a $50.00 late fee for each hour the vehicle is late, up to $500. Getaround Commission will be charged on both the late fee and the hourly rate. These charges will be added in addition to the agreed upon rental rate between the Owner and Renter.

3. Citation Fee

In the event that a Renter fails to pay for a parking ticket, speeding ticket, or other citation that occurs during or subsequent to a Rental, a fee equal to the highest amount on the citation will be charged to the Renter. An Administrative Fee may apply

4. Administrative Fee

A fee of $30.00 will be charged for any administrative event such as neglecting to pay for a parking or speeding ticket during a rental period. The at-fault user incurs the charge.

5. Cancellation Fees

For Renters and Owners: Rentals whose length is less than or equal to 6 hours may be cancelled with at least 3 hours notification at no charge. If a cancellation is made with less than 3 hours notification, the canceling user will be charged the full price of the Rental plus a $30 inconvenience fee. Rentals whose length is greater than 6 hours may be cancelled with greater than 24 hours notification at no charge. If a cancellation is made with less than 24 hours notification, the canceling user will be charged the day price of the vehicle along with a $50 inconvenience fee.

6. No-Show Fees

In the event an Owner does not make their car available to a Renter during a Rental, the Owner may be responsible for fees and costs incurred by Getaround to find a replacement vehicle for the Renter, along with our standard Cancellation Fees.

7. Gas Fee

If the car is returned with less than the amount of gas as at the start of the Rental, the Renter will be charged $8.00 per gallon of missing gas along with a $30.00 Administrative Fee.

8. Insurance Deductible

For any claim event or incident, the Renter will be charged an insurance deductible equal to $750. For exotic and classic cars, the Renter will be charged an insurance deductible equal to $2,000.
